The Advantages of Being on The Village at Penn State Wait List For a Dream Residence

August 24, 2022

Retired Penn State University Engineering Professor, Paul Jovanis and his wife, Caroline, moved to The Village at Penn State in 2021 after being on the Wait List for a couple of years.

They attended several Open House Events there before getting on the Waiting List. “Alanna Parsons, Director Sales and Marketing did a fantastic job of staying in contact with us, and she invited us to the community whenever a social or cultural event took place, so that we could become more familiar with the community,” explains Paul.

“Every time we visited, we enjoyed the many amenities, along with opportunities for fitness activities, social, intellectual, and cultural growth that The Village had to offer,” elaborates Paul.

However, Paul and Caroline were not initially in a hurry to downsize and move. Paul continues, “We also had specific requirements for a new residence, and we were willing to wait until the right sized and perfectly located apartment became available.”

Caroline adds, “We loved our former home where we had lived locally for many years, and we had quite a bit of downsizing to do before we moved. Bridget Donnelly, the Certified Senior Move Manager who serves VPS, was helpful to us in that regard, when the time came.”

Paul says, “We were interested in having a spacious, two bedroom apartment, that would afford privacy and the opportunity to walk to dining areas, because we enjoy getting rigorous exercise, and we also wanted an apartment with the space to entertain out of town children or other visitors.”

Since moving into their new digs at VPS, they have become very active participants as Co-Chairs of The Art Wall Committee, and Paul has become involved with a poetry group. “Now, first thing every morning, while I drink a cup of coffee, I read a poem, which is quite a change from my former life as an Engineering professor!”
